Robosumo Contest February 2009

On the February 2009 meeting, we had a Robosumo contest. You can read up on the rules here.

Professor Martin Mason, long-time RSSC member was kind enough to gently persuade his Mt Sac students to build a sumobot and participate in the RSSC contest. And because the young folks these days are so full of energy, and have copious amounts of time on their hands, they gracefully volunteered to show up en mass to make this contest one for the history books.

The fact that Martin was going to flunk them miserably otherwise had nothing to do with it. Regardless of that, they performed outstanding, snatching away the first and second prize. RSSC's own John Davis had to settle for bronze, but judging by the ear-to-ear smile on his face, he did not mind. Honorable mentioning of Alex Brown who purchased a tiny BOEbot, just for this occasion, but got creamed by ... well practically everyone. He kept his good humor about it nonetheless.
