Areas of Ministry Opportunity

USHER/GREETER

  1. Will be assigned to one of seven locations in the sanctuary each Sunday.
  2. Will be available and in their assigned section fifteen minutes prior to start of service.
  3. Will be attentive to those persons seeking seating in your area, greeting them in a way that you feel comfortable and being an outlet for the Holy Spirit to minister to the people being greeted.
  4. Provide whatever assistance is necessary in seating the people.
  5. Do your best to identify any visitors. Make them aware of information needed to accommodate their visit.
  6. Be aware of any special needs that may arise in the section that you are serving.
  7. Will be given an offering bag before the service begins. At the designated time, you will receive the tithes and offerings in your assigned section.
  8. On communion Sunday and at the designated time, each usher/greeter will come forward to the communion table and obtain both a plate of bread and a tray of juice and proceed to serve their assigned section.

VISITOR RECOGNITION & NEW MEMBER INFORMATION

Each Sunday's bulletin has a tear off sheet for our visitors to fill out and take to the designated area after the service. In addition, our pastoral staff extends a personal greeting to the visitors and request they stop by the visitor reception area in the foyer.

  1. Persons assigned to this ministry will attend the reception desk and receive the information furnished by the visitor and extend an added greeting. Also, each visitor is presented with a gift from the church, along with information about the church, if requested.
  2. We have a follow up policy to call the visitors the following week to see if there is anything else we can do for them. The follow up call is not a mandatory requirement for each person serving in this area and will be handled by others if it something you're not comfortable with.
  3. Persons interested in church membership are advised in the Sunday morning bulletin to visit the visitor reception area to obtain information regarding joining the church. This information is in package form and is self-explanatory. The Ambassador servicing the reception desk will take the person's name and address and disperse the handout.
  4. Three times a year a new member orientation reception is held. This requires a certain number of Ambassadors serving as hosts and preparing and serving hospitality. This event is normally held in the clubhouse at the senior pastors' residence.

HOSPITALITY

Sunday morning hospitality is an important part of the LBCF ministry in that it provides a time for members of the congregation, whether from the first service or second service, an opportunity to visit and share with one another.

  1. The hospitality time is designated from 10:00 to 10:45.
  2. Ambassadors assigned for the specific Sunday morning arrive at 9:00 and prepare the designated items and set up the serving tables.
  3. At the completion of the hospitality time, assignees clean up the kitchen and all equipment and place all items in their assigned location.
  4. It is expected that those serving hospitality will then attend the remainder of the Sunday morning service.
  5. Hospitality assignments are made so that each team will have a minimum of two persons. It is not anticipated that any one team will be assigned more than once every two months.

FACILITY SET-UP AND TEAR DOWN

Facility set-up and tear down is two separate assignments each Sunday morning.

Set-Up

  1. Those assigned to the set up will report at 7:45 and complete the required set up items, which takes approximately thirty minutes.
  2. The assignee will attend the first service.
  3. After the completion of the hospitality time, the assignee will remove all umbrellas not in use for sign up activities and return them to their storage position.

Tear Down

  1. The person assigned to tear down will remove the remainder of the umbrellas and tables and store them in their storage position.
  2. Remove all road signs and return to their respective storage areas.

BOOKROOM

This ministry includes becoming familiar with the articles in the bookroom and operating the cash register. The bookroom is open for business at the time between the conclusion of the first service and the start of the second service and again at the conclusion of the second service for a reasonable period of time.

  1. Assignments for this ministry can either be persons attending the first service who will attend the bookroom after first service only. Or,
  2. If some who attend the second service are willing to come at the conclusion of the first service and provide coverage for both of the services, this will reduce the number of persons required to provide the desired coverage.

TAPE MINISTRY

Each Sunday morning's message is recorded. Tapes and CD's are offered on an immediate basis to the congregation attending the respective service.

  1. Immediately after the service is concluded, retrieve the master recording and proceed to the duplicating equipment and produce the required number of tapes and/or CD's.
  2. Transport the recorded items to the tape room for sale to the morning attendees.

LCD OPERATION

This is the operation of the computerized overhead projection that we use for worship, message outlines, and other special items shown on the overhead. This requires computer experience and adaptability to the information being displayed.

  1. Requires specific training by the church staff for those qualified.
  2. Requires person assigned for specific service to be present and available thirty minutes before service to receive specific instructions and information for that service.
