Barbara Sunofsky

A heart as big as all outdoors - the old cliché fits Barbara Sunofsky to a tee. Barbara's love and heart for the people of God - which includes those currently in the family and those to come - is something we experience in a tangible fashion here at LBCF. She has a nose for newcomers and a way of drawing people in and letting them know their value.

Barbara and John are currently serving as elders in our body. They have been married since June 5, 1985 and renewed their vows on June 7, 2003 in a ceremony at our church. They have two married children, six grandchildren, three teenagers at home, all home schooled, and one nine year old in public school. They have been coming to LBCF since 1994 and during the time the congregation was building out the facility on Airport Way, Barbara served many casseroles to keep the workers energy up. She has served in Sunday School in many capacities, is currently Women's Ministries leader and is our Elementary Children's Pastor.

Barbara is a woman of vision, and the vision she has for the children is far-reaching. "Purpose", "Fun" and "Connection" are the words she feels the Lord has given her for the kids for this year. She wants to take the "school" part out of Sunday School and wants the kids to look forward to coming on Sunday to experience God for themselves. Her desire for the teachers is that they would have servant's hearts for the kids and not serve because they "should". Barbara's plan is to provide the skeleton lesson for the teachers each Sunday and let them flesh it out with their own vision and passion. Her heart is to break through each individual child's resistance and draw them into a love affair with Jesus. Her own love affair with Jesus is what she's all about.
