Needed:

1.       MC/Judge

2.       Contest Monitor

3.       20+ questions submitted by audience on the subject of movies with robotics

4.       2 cell phones with text message capability

Overview:

Chatbots are a form of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE  that have been around more than 15 years. A chatbot’s purpose is to respond to questions like a human would.

The Turing Test is a contest that features chatbots. The idea is to fool someone into thinking a human is answering the questions when the response is actually from the chatbot.

Pandorabots.com allows anyone to create a chatbot for free. A basic chatbot can be created in about 5 minutes.

Contest Procedure:

1.       The audience submits one question each on the theme of robot movies.

2.       A contestant with his PC-based chatbot will be escorted into a second room by the contest monitor.

3.       The MC will select at random a question from the box of questions.

4.       The MC will send the question to the contestant by text message.

5.       The contest monitor will key the question into the contestant’s  chatbot.

6.       The contest monitor will then flip a coin. If the coin is “heads” the monitor sends the chatbot response to the MC. If it is “tales”, the contest monitor makes up an answer and sends the response to the MC.

7.       The MC reads the response and the audience votes if it is the chatbot or the contest monitor responding.

8.       Each time the audience guesses wrong, the contestant gets a point.

9.       This continues until 20 questions have been answered.

10.   When all contestants have had a turn, the contest is over and the points are added.

11.   The contestant with the most points wins.

Rules:

1.       Siri and Google are banned from the contest.

2.       It would be easy to cheat. Please don’t cheat.  Cheaters will be required to run next year’s Turing test.
