RSSC Robotic Competitions
RSSC is all about DIY robots: what they are about and how to build and program them.
Building a working robot is a lot harder than people think. Everyone has a busy schedule with family, work, school. Building a robot can be a challenge. Finishing a project without an incentive is hard. That is why RSSC organizes competitions. These give people an incentive and a goal to actually complete that robot you always dreamt about, instead of coming to listen about other people's robots.
RSSC creates an environment that stimulates you to build robots. Remember, the only bad robot is the one you did not built.
Our robots do not have to be beautiful or complex. They don't even have to work perfect. The RSSC crowd is easily amused.
Our club mantra is: It worked yesterday !
You do NOT need to register or even be a member to compete. When you show up with a robot, you are in.
When available, the club will give incentive prizes to all competitors. The winner gets a prize. Please check out our competition prizes.
The rules we post on this web site are more general guidelines, rather than strict rules. We don't care if you don't meet all criteria. We just wanna see robots move around. (Just to be clear, even though our criteria are low, throwing your cell phone on the competition floor and claiming that it worked yesterday does not qualify you for an entrance prize).
Robots do not have to be custom built. Off-the-shelf robots (e.g. LEGO, 3PI, BOEbot, ...) are all valid entrants. Custom-built robots off course are very much appreciated. Like the saying goes: "It is better to have 1 robot in your hand than have 10 fall on your head !", or something to that effect. All competing robots need to be autonomous unless stated otherwise. Some competitions have a Remote Control (RC) section (e.g. pick-up-the-can).
Couldn't make it to a contest. You can still get a whiff of the atmosphere in the past competitions section.
So, where are you ? See you in our next meeting.
