ENROLLMENT ISSUES
Full Classes
If a course you wish to take is already full:
- Place yourself on the class wait list if possible. You will be added to the class if a seat opens up. Note: All class wait lists will be dropped one week before classes begin.
- Have a ‘Plan B’. Choose another course that you would be willing to take in case you can’t get into your first choice. During the first week, be aware that many other Graduate Students will be trying to add or change classes.
- Keep a flexible schedule if possible. It may be necessary for you to rearrange your classes. Although we want you to get the classes you need, we are unable to accommodate work schedules.
- Check MyCSULB frequently. Class openings will change dynamically as people add and drop classes.
- Show up for class on the first day. Show up on time the first day and petition to add the class. Please be patient with the instructor and realize that they have class size limitations and that priority may be given to students in their last semester.
- Do not email the instructor asking to be added before the first day. Instructors are waiting for their instructions on how many students to admit. Please do not fill their inboxes with requests.
- See the CECS Department Chair at the end of the first week if you are unable to add classes by that point.
Request for Permit Form
If you are trying to enroll online, and see a message that you do not have the necessary prerequisites to enroll in the class you wish, you must fill out a
Request for Permit Form.
- The Request for Permit form should be submitted to the CECS Department Office.
- It will take a few days for the form to be processed.
- Once issued, the permit will only allow you to add a class if there are seats currently available.
Mandatory Attendance For Week 1
Attendance during the first week of the semester is a mandatory CSULB requirement. If you do not attend class during the first week, you will be dropped from the roster.
