Long Beach has seen an excellent industry development over the past few years that benefits the physics community. Several companies in advanced technologies, satellites, aerospace, etc. have settled down or extended their activities to the city. Among those I have heard of recently are:

The tool is called “CareerShift” and can be access through CareerLINK (Jobs and Internships -> CareerShift). There are about 100 new jobs (in all fields naturally) added to the list every week. The great advantage of this tool is that it provides a flexible way to search for jobs (by location, field, etc.). The other advantage is that for almost every company there is a contact person, with phone number and email address. This is rather unique and extraordinary and an excellent way to reach a company beyond the usual automatic application process (that is often frustrating). Important is to make sure you are prepared when you contact the person. Discuss with your research or undergraduate/graduate advisor if you need advice or help.
