Ideal research assistant applicants should be dedicated individuals who are reliable with ample and flexible availability during day time school hours. Successful volunteers tend to be detail-oriented and organized with good verbal communication and people skills. Familiarity with statistics, programming, and/or Excel is a plus, but not necessary. Good writing skills and evidence of academic excellence are also important. Experience with children and being bilingual (both written and oral) are also highly desired, as we work with children from different cultures in the local community.
Research assistants are required to commit to at least 10 hours per week (with at least two 3-hour blocks of time in the morning or in the afternoon) for the academic year. Time availability is of the utmost importance given the constraints of conducting studies with children during typical school and childcare hours. Additionally, research assistants are required to attend weekly 90-minute lab meetings.
If interested, please email Dr. Halim, and include your resume and a cover letter along with a completed
application. In addition to undergraduate research assistants, Dr. Halim will be recruiting graduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year.
