Student Research Opportunities

Laurie Huning Help address water, climate, and environmental challenges!

The Huning Research Group is recruiting students to conduct research related to extreme events, water resources, snow hydrology, and land-atmosphere interactions, in the areas of:

    NOAA NSF NASA •  Drought propagation and monitoring
    •  Snow-heatwave-drought interactions
    •  Snow loss and flooding
    •  Hydroclimate in mountainous regions
    •  Remote sensing for hydrologic applications

    Gain valuable skills and mentored-training that will prepare you for a career in research or industry while conducting research on NASA, NSF, and NOAA-funded projects.
    Available Opportunities
    •  Funded student researcher positions
    •  Year-round mentoring and engagement with faculty and collaborators
    Eligibility
    •  Possess and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
    •  Graduate students (continuing or new) and exceptional undergraduate students must have at least one full year before graduation
    •  Proof of enrollment as a CSULB student in pursuit of a B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required for all students

    •  A statement of intent (3-page maximum) that discusses:

    1. Research interests
    2. Research and/or academic experience
    3. How research will help you achieve your career goals

    •  A letter of recommendation that attests the student’s potential for success in research, academic accomplishments, and preparation
