Hydrogen generator set for use with Pilot Balloons
Below is a illustration of a hydrogen generator. This item is filled with Calcium Hydride charges and held in water. A chemical reaction takes place and hydrogen is release filling up the balloon. Note that the generator is not normally directly connected t the balloon as in the first illustration. The balloon would filled through a hose line with a nozzle and appropriate weight for the ascent (daytime or night time). See also Hydrogen Safety precautions.
