I learned my first Mandaring Chinese word at a circus performance with Chinese acrobats. I learned 'Thank you' or Xie'Xie'. Later that day my family and I went to a Chinese restraunt, and to be friendly I said XieXie when recieving my change from the woman at the register. Her face lit up with joy and suprise at my speaking this in her language and I have since decided to learn more. Your website has several phrases I can use and while I will never learn to be fluent or even to understand what is being said to me this way, I can let the chinese people know I respect them enough to try and learn some of their language, or at least one of the several dailects in China. Some feedback though, Several links for the wav files do not seem to work for me. Some examples are: Unit 13, Part 1: Listen and learn 5 - None of these links worked for me. I use Windows XP Professional with SP2 installed. Windows Media Player 10, and Internet Explorer 6 Thank You again for creating this educational page. I hope to learn more but this will get me started so that I can understand a few things.
