Empirical research or empirical articles
Empirical research involves "real world" experiments. Empirical articles will describe the experiment(s) the researchers conducted including methods, number of participants, testing methods such as survey, use of control group, results and conclusions. This is primary research.
Beware aware of review articles in which a researcher will summarize other empirical articles but will not conduct any "new" research. This is considered secondary research.
