TONY S. TORRES

Mr. Torres, Supervising Technician, assumed his new position in 1999 and instituted a housekeeping program that involved disposal of tons of surplus equipment, which eliminated many safety hazards. He designed and implemented most of the corrective actions himself. Additionally, he began other health and safety projects such as a safety review of materials and procedures associated with department instructional labs. Mr. Torres also designed health and safety communication programs aimed at lab instructors and their students. Templates were created with easy to follow safety instructions. These measures proved to be so effective that they have since been shared with all other science departments.
