Lecture Viewgraphs

Here are the viewgraphs that accompany the lectures.

One thing about their format: They're in Open Document Presentation format (.odp), not Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt or .pptx) format. I encourage you to download and try out the Open Document Foundation office software, OpenOffice or LibreOffice. They're free, as full-featured as the commercial product, and a lot less annoying to use (no "ribbon"). Some of the open-source community that developed OpenOffice was annoyed when Oracle bought out Sun Microsystems (which had supported OpenOffice) and moved over to the Open Document Foundation to continue their work as LibreOffice. Meanwhile, Oracle gave OpenOffice to the Apache open-source community. At the moment, the two packages are essentially the same, but they are beginning to diverge as ODF and Apache go their own ways.

Microsoft has finally acknowledged the free competition, and the latest version of the Office complex (2010, 2013, and 2016) is now able to open Open Source Foundation formats, but 2007 and 2003 can't. Google Docs lets you import and export ODF files now, too. So, you can use free open-source software and not worry about incompatibility with the commercial programs.
