CURRICULUM REPORT GUIDELINES

==========

You are to write two brief curriculum reports based on the eighteen National Geography Standards. For each report, select a different standard. For each of the two standards, develop a specific illustration of that standard into a model classroom exercise.

Write a brief report on this model exercise, indicating which standard it addresses and the specific topic you'll use to elaborate the standard. Also, indicate the grade range you are targeting. Describe the information you would provide to the students in lecture, reading, or Internet form and the materials you anticipate they would need. Then, describe the student activities and their products, if relevant. Write succinctly, so that the report text is about two to three pages long.

As ever, your writing mechanics will be assessed: They count for about a third of the points on this report. Pay close attention to the organization of your paper, spelling, grammar, correct and varied sentence structure, proper punctuation and capitalization, and avoiding sexist usage. Developing a habit of inclusive language is particularly important for those of you going on as teachers, where your language habits may affect the self-esteem and ambition of the young people in your charge.

The Key to the National Geography Standards have a bunch of one or two sentence starter ideas for various grades.
