Purpose of the Lab:

The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with various factors affecting migration by considering a local migrant population. Choose a population currently established in California and evaluate it:

1. Identify it as a voluntary or impelled immigrant population;

2. Evaluate the push and pull factors of migration; and

3. Discuss how barriers to migration affect this population.

In evaluating these issues, consider how push and pull factors are balanced against barriers to migration.
