How Can a WUI Resident Block Fire Spread?

• Some structural fine points:

• Fireproof all outbuildings (garages, sheds, coops) as well as you do your house, or they will burn and provide the close-up radiant heat to burn your house
• NO SHAKE ROOVES!!!!!!!!! Replace with composite, tile, metal, or concrete “fake-shake” roofing
• Overhanging eaves, while a great passive solar idea, create vortices that lob embers into your attic – fire-purists would remove them – otherwise really mesh up your gable/soffit vents
• Keep vegetation and litter off your roof and out of your gutters (who needs a rain gutter anyway?)
