Together with Ernie Anderson, Nolan Blackford, and occasional field mapping classes, I have been  doing detailed mapping and collection of structural data in the central Mojave to better understand the tectonic development of the metamorphic core complex that has been identified near Barstow. Mapping in the upper plate rocks reveals several major problems with previous models of the area, and relationships suggest that extension in the area may have been significantly less that previously proposed.
