Melody Kiang is Professor of
Computer Information Systems at California State University, Long
Beach. She received her M.S. from the University
of Wisconsin, Madison
(1987), and her Ph.D. in Management Science and Information Systems from
the University of Texas, Austin
(1991). Prior to join CSULB, Dr. Kiang was an Associate Professor at Arizona State University
(1991-1999). She was a Visiting Associate Professor at The A. Gary
Anderson Graduate School of Management, University
of California at Riverside during the 1997 academic
year. Her research emphasizes the development and applications of
artificial intelligence techniques to a variety of management problems. Dr.
Kiang has published papers in Information System Research (ISR), Management
Science (MS), IEEE Transactions on SMC, Decision Support Systems, The
Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), The European Journal of
Operational Research (EJOR), The Journal of the Operational Research
Society, and other professional journals. She is an associate editor of
Decision Support Systems and co-editor in Chief of the Journal of
