Professor Carissimo is Microsoft Certified Product Specialist and Solution Developer. He has been a National Science Foundation Faculty Fellow in Computer Science, and has written many commercial Visual Basic applications. His teaching interests included concurrent programming, operating systems, and Microsoft .NET technology.

After almost 40 years of teaching and student advising, Professor Carissimo retired at the end of the Fall 2006 semester. Besides computing, he is now actively pursuing other interests in art collecting, music and botany.
