Analysis of written comments:
The enrollment in the course was 7 when this evaluation was made, and
of the five students submitting comments, half (2, 3) make the point that
this is a dificult class, with many advanced concepts that are not necessarily
familiar. I agree that the course material is dificult (question
4 above) and will strive to take extra effort in ramping the course up
from the first few weeks.
A slightly different evaluation of the couse has been made and can be downloaded here.
Written Comments from evaluations:
1. I think this is the most fun I'm going
to have in any of my upper division classes. I can see mathematica
and the processes we used in class helping me later on in coursework and
study.
2. The main problem with this course and the
one I believe most directly limiting the instructor's effectiveness is
the lack of basic data structure training required prior to this course.
Students would get much more from this course if they had a basic programming
class prior to taking this course.
3. I thought some of the projects that were
assigned need more prerequisits than I had experienced. However,
Pickett did a good explaining and had good knowledge of the subject in
the course.
4. Dr. Pickett is an excellent instructor
and very knoweldgeable about the material. He is always very helpful.
