Abstract
The CAVE system or Cave Automatic Virtual Environment, is a virtual reality device created by Vizbox Inc. The CAVE is made of several fixed large screens that use an array of projectors to display the virtual environment for the user. The device is created to overcome some of the limitations of Head Mounted Displays VR systems by allowing multiple users to experiance the same environment at once, and having a set play space without risking bumping into any other objects in the real world during a showcase.
Our research lab is using the CAVE for the advancement of realtime motion capture using the ART tracking system already setup with the system, and real time musculoskeletal feedback and dynamics from the system. By utilizing the motion capture data in real time from the ART tracking system in unison with OpenSim, we are working on being able to calculate joint forces and muscle data in real time.
