Neopragmatism as Metaepistemology
| How should we evaluate and revise our beliefs about he we should evaluate and revise our beliefs? I propose a form of pragmatism at this metaepistemological level, and use it to evaluate both traditional, intuition-driven methods in epistemology and some more recent naturalist approaches, and show them to compare unfavorably to a pragmatist approach at the normative level of epistemological theorizing as well. I will further demonstrate that this approach can provide us with new resources for addressing such standard epistemological questions as the internalism/externalism debate and the possibility of a priori justification. |
