Before I Go

Give me numinous olive oil, ultra:
blood streaming, corpuscles
pulsing with sap--sweetest
maple from the north,
capillaries lubricated
with oil of Oriental palms.

Let me sip Turkish coffee
in an Arab oasis,
hold hands with a prince
under cedars of Lebanon,
savor strains of the ney,
violin crafted by a genius
in old Europe,
divine music from Songs
of Solomon, Rumi, Kama Sutra.

Let me see eternity
in a Blakean grain of sand,
Heaven in a California Poppy,
kneel before the Unseen God,
take the dust from his lotus-like
feet--incarnate image,
naked, human.
                         Feed from
his endorsement and,
complete,
fade into eternity.

قــبــل أن أذهـــــــب

قصيدة كليفتون سنايدر
ترجمة الحبيب الواعي

قبل أن أذهب
أعطيني زيت الزيتون المقدس-أحسن ما نتج
- دم متدفق  ينبض بالعصارة
كريات أحلى من شراب قيقب شمالي،
شعيرات دموية مشحمة
.بزيت نخيل شرقي

دعوني أرتشف قهوة تركية
فـي واحـــة عـربـيـة
أضـع يـدي فـي يـد أمير عربي
تحت أرز لبنان،
أتذوق معانات الناي،
و كمان صنعه عبقري
من أوروبا القديمة،
موسيقى روحية من أغاني
سليمان،
وجلال الدين الرومي
و كاما سوترا.

دعوني أرى الخلود
في حبة رمل بليكية،
السماء في خشخاش كاليفورنيا ،
دعوني أركع أمام اله خفي،
أخذ الغبار من رجله الشبيهة بالخص
لأمنح الصورة جسدا–
عاريا وكأي بـشـــر
أتغذى من شهادته
.وأتلاشى كاملا إلى الأبد
