Frequently asked questions (for my ECON 101 students)

Will I be graded on my performance in this game?
You will not be graded on your progress and badges in this game and no personal information is collected. However, the Aplia participation assignment accompanying each module is graded and is based on the material covered in the module.

What if I'm unable to play the game?
First, be sure to try both the downloadable and online versions of the game, and from different computers and web browsers if possible (recommended: up-to-date versions of Firefox or Chrome). If you are still unable to get the game working, you can do the alternative activity listed in the Aplia participation assignment for that week.

How do I unlock a module?
The first module is unlocked. I will provide the codes to the class over the course of the semester on the BeachBoard course website and in the Aplia participation assignment for that week.

How do I save the game?
The game will be auto-saved periodically. Please note that if you exit the game before you see a message saying that your progress has been saved, you will lose all progress since the last autosave.

My game didn't save properly/I lost my saved game!
Unfortunately, I will not be able to recover your save files. Please make sure you're playing from the same computer/browser as before. If you can't find your saved game, don't worry, you can replay modules and start new ones without needing to have completed others.

I'm stuck and don't know what to do next.
First, you may want to look at the instructions for the game or see the help by going to Menu > Help in the game itself. For the most part, the character who is explaining things in the module will tell you what to do. Try talking to him/her again, and to the other characters in the game. You might get a hint as to what you should be doing next.

I can't access the Menu.
The Menu cannot be accessed during certain times in the game, e.g., during a timed mini-game when you're gathering blueberries, or when other characters are talking to you.

The sound effects are too loud.
You can adjust the volume either through the volume control on your device or by going to Menu > Options in the game.

Why isn't there any music in the game?
So that there won't be any distractions and because music files can be large and may slow down the game.

The game is slow to load or the characters move and speak slowly.
If you're playing the online version, you may want to check your Internet connection. Unfortunately, older computers will have more difficulty processing the graphics in this game, so please be patient. Tip: When a character is speaking, you can show all the dialogue at once by left-clicking or pressing ENTER or the Z key. Just be careful not to select an option by mistake once a character has finished speaking.

How do I uninstall the game?

I have a suggestion/I want to report a bug.
Any feedback and bug reports are welcome. Please see my contact information for the best way to reach me.
