During
this course you will complete four projects. The projects include the following
types of documentation: All
of your projects will be evaluated on the basis of general and specific criteria.
The specific criteria will be related to the nature of the project and the progress
you will have made in the course by the time the project is due. I will discuss
these criteria as we talk about each assignment. The
general criteria that apply equally to all assignments include the following:
- Promptness. All
projects are due on the due date specified. If you have an unexpected extenuating circumstance that will prevent you from turning in a project on time, please notify me before the due date.
- Appearance.
All of your projects must be prepared with Microsoft Word, unless otherwise requested and approved by me. You should use standard 1" margins and a normal font
and spacing. All of your work should have all of the appropriate formal elements,
as specified by the document.
- Audience.
Your communication should be directed to a specific audience and should reflect
a concern with the needs and potential responses of all who may read it.
- Completeness.
Your communication should contain all of the information necessary for your audience
to act or make a decision, but no irrelevant information.
- Organization.
Your communication should be appropriately organized in terms of its purpose.
The information should be conveyed usefully and persuasively. Your writing should
make your organization clear to your readers so that they'll know what point you're
making and how that point relates to the rest of your message.
- Clarity.
Your writing should convey its message precisely and with immediate clarity to
the reader. In style, it should be substantially free of wordiness, jargon, and
other stylistic awkwardness.
- Grammar
and Mechanics. Your writing should be free of grammatical and mechanical errors.
